For the singleplayer lovers amongst you there’s the 8 Ball race, which the press release describes as a “chaotic, full-impact race in the shadow of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, using boost to sprint ahead of rivals and speeding through crossover points where drivers can dodge or takedown opponents.” The demo features both singleplayer and multiplayer so that you can get a feel for what’s going to be on offer in the full game.

Still, all the words in the world mean nothing compared to actually getting to play the game, which is why Codemasters have today released a demo for DiRT: Showdown, available to download on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Steam. In other words it’s sounding like one hell of a game, and one that lets Codemasters play around with their famous series while still having DiRT 3 for the more serious racing action. While its big brothers in the main DiRT series focus on a more realistic approach and plenty of rallying, Showdown is all about going big or going home, featuring a more destruction derby style of gameplay, encouraging players to get physical as they race for the finish line. Titled Showdown, it’s a full-on arcade racer with a penchant for mayhem and destruction. Codemasters have been hard at work creating a brand new spin-off title of their DiRT series.
